Developing a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

Resources and information to assist public authorities to develop, implement and report on their Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
Last updated:

Approximately 1 in 5, or 515,600, Western Australians have disability. Just like everyone else, people with disability have a diverse range of abilities, skills, strengths and aspirations. Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs) play a critical role in creating a community that is accessible, inclusive and welcoming.

DAIPs are a key driver of positive change to:

  • eliminate discrimination against people with disability
  • provide inclusive and accessible facilities, information, services and workplaces.

In WA, the Disability Services Act 1993 requires public authorities to develop, implement and maintain a current DAIP.

The Department of Communities offers capacity building initiatives to assist public authorities to develop, implement and report on their DAIP.
