The Victim Liaison Team (VLT) sits within the Victim Services directorate of the Office of the Commissioner for Victims of Crime.
Staff within the VLT respond to a wide range of enquiries by providing information and referrals to relevant service providers and liaising with other stakeholders on behalf of victims. As a result of these interactions, VLT staff also provide advice to the Commissioner for Victims of Crime on issues that impact victims of crime.
The VLT are also responsible for facilitating the below services:
Homicide Assistance Payments Scheme
Under the Homicide Assistance Payments Scheme, bereaved individuals may be eligible for financial assistance from the following services:
- Funeral Assistance Service
- Biological and Forensic Cleaning Service
- Ambulance Payment Service
Breach of Victim Treatment Guidelines Complaints Process
The Victims of Crime Act 1994 has 12 guidelines to protect and support victims of crime. They outline how a victim of crime should be treated by all Government departments, as well as any person or agency contracted by the Government to work with victims of crime.

High Risk Serious Offender (HRSO) victim submissions
The High Risk Serious Offender Act 2020 provides victims with the ability to make submissions to the court. If you are eligible to provide a submission, you will be contacted by the Victim Engagement Team with information for how to prepare a submission and how you can be supported.
