How to restore your expired electrician’s licence (endorsed electrical fitting work only)
Electrical licences can be restored even if they have expired, by completing an automatic online renewal or by submitting a Form R141A - Restoration of Name to the Electrical Licensing Register (Electrician endorsed Electrical Fitting Work Only) Expired zero years to ten years. Online restoration
You can restore an electrician’s licence (endorsed electrical fitting work only) that has been expired up to two years with our online restoration service.
To use the restoration service you will need to know your licence number, which can be found on the front of your licence, meet the ID requirements in accordance with the Fact Sheet Proof of identity requirements for applicants for an electrical licence and complete the fit and proper assessment.
Fit and proper assessment
National Police Check: A person is required to provide an Australian Police Check from the approved list of providers, available here: Police checks for licensing. The date of issue of the Australian Police Check must be within three months of the date you lodge your electrical licence application.
To safeguard your personal information, you will need to have an email address or mobile telephone number currently recorded with Licensing Services so that when prompted, we can SMS and/or email you your one-time security access code.
Online restoration service
Before commencing the online restoration process you must:
- Know your licence number.
- Have your ID ready to upload.
- Have a National Police Clearance ready to upload.

Restoring electrical licences expired two-ten years
Where an electrician’s licence (endorsed electrical fitting work only) has been expired between two and ten years, the Electrical Licensing Board requires that a person successfully completes additional training prior to restoring their name to the electrical licensing register. The training required is outlined in the relevant form below.
To enrol in this training you are required to obtain an approval letter from Licensing Services by contacting electricallicensing@demirs.wa.gov.au or (08) 6251 2000.
Expired over ten years
Where an electrician’s licence (endorsed electrical fitting work only) has been expired over ten years, the Electrical Licensing Board requires that a person complete application form R141B.
