Nominating blocks for acreage release

Process for nominating available blocks/areas for acreage release in Western Australia
Last updated:

Prior to selecting areas for acreage release, the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (the Department) will formally seek nominations from industry interested in particular areas for exploration. If a nominated area is released there will be a general expectation for the nominee to submit a bid.

Each year, industry stakeholders will be invited to nominate vacant areas to be considered as part of Western Australia’s regular petroleum, geothermal energy, and greenhouse gas storage acreage releases.

While formal nominations are not open at this time, interest may be expressed outside of formal nominations by emailing details to acreagerelease@demirs.wa.gov.au

More information on how to nominate can be found in the document Nominating blocks for expression of interest - Guidelines
