The WA Student Assistance Payment 2025
The State Government is offering the second round of the WA Student Assistance Payment (WASAP). WASAP is an initiative providing financial support to Western Australian families for school expenses, such as books and IT equipment, sport and music costs, stationery, school shoes, uniforms, excursions and camps, plus other extra costs, including food and groceries.
Claims open from 28 April to 4 July 2025.
The payment is available to parents and carers of students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Cost-of-living payments for each child include:
- $150 for Kindergarten and primary school students
- $250 for secondary school students
Eligibility criteria
The WA Student Assistance Payment will be available to:
- Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who are enrolled in a WA public school, non-government school, or are registered for home education.
- International full fee-paying students if they are enrolled in a WA registered school.
- Mature age students studying to achieve a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
- Students in family-based care.
- Students enrolled in School of Isolated and Distance Education, Christmas Island District High School and Cocos Island District High School.
Student eligibility will be validated through their unique WA student number (WASN) found on school reports, previous NAPLAN results and some high school student SmartRider cards.
For parents or guardians of students who have started Kindergarten or Pre-primary this year and do not have anything with their WA student number, please contact their school who can provide you with this information.
