The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is preparing a draft Improvement Scheme for the Redcliffe Station Precinct.

The Government has already made a significant investment and commitment to regenerate the station precinct. Redcliffe station connects Perth Airport with the western part of the metropolitan area and has the advantage of being adjacent to major road infrastructure upgrades such as the recently completed Tonkin Gap project.

Located on the Airport Line, the Redcliffe Station Precinct will support the State Government’s strategic objectives for the development of land near existing and proposed train stations. It will also contribute to the growth of Perth and the creation of housing opportunities.

The draft Redcliffe Station Improvement Scheme seeks to zone land for desired land uses and establish residential densities that will integrate with the existing area, while making use of the train station infrastructure. It will also provide the regulations to guide future development and attract investment around the station to contribute to housing and employment opportunities for the local community.

The draft Scheme builds on previous strategic planning work undertaken by the City of Belmont. When finalised, it will support the creation of a vibrant, contemporary transit-oriented development that may include a mix of land uses and will include a diverse range of housing types.

Additionally, the new Scheme will confirm a design concept to transform the Southern Main Drain to ensure environmental and recreation benefits in the area and attract investment.

Next Steps

It is anticipated the draft Improvement Scheme will be released for public comment in 2025.
