The Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP) was implemented in 2018 and mandates progressive targets for the award of contracts to Aboriginal businesses and, effective 1 December 2023, ACCOs by WA Government agencies.
In 2024, a Review of the APP was undertaken to:
- Assess agency compliance with the APP’s targets;
- Identify the extent to which the APP is achieving its aims;
- Provide recommendations to update the APP; and
- Incorporate the findings from the Office of the Auditor-General’s Audit into the Effectiveness of the Implementation of the Aboriginal Procurement Policy tabled in Parliament on 21 November 2024.
The recommendations from the Review have been considered and included in an updated APP which will take effect from 1 July 2025. The term of the APP will be ongoing until 2030-31.
Updated guidelines and templates will be available from 1 July 2025.
