- Three new multimillion dollar primary schools to open in Baldivis, Banksia Grove and Caversham

The McGowan Government is investing more than $55 million in three new primary schools to help cater for students in rapidly growing suburbs and provide a first-class education to Western Australian students.
Visiting Baldivis today, Premier Mark McGowan and Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery announced construction of Baldivis North (South East) Primary School, Banksia Grove East Primary School and Caversham South Primary School (planning names) will begin this year, ahead of opening for kindergarten to Year 6 students in 2020.
Baldivis North (South East) Primary School will cater for 430 students and first-class art and music facilities will be incorporated into the $16 million school.
The population of Baldivis has increased rapidly over the past five years, increasing by more than 3,100 people on average every year.
The $22 million Banksia Grove East Primary School in the east of Perth's growing northern corridor was a key election commitment and will include a library, early childhood building, three general classroom buildings, a covered assembly area, canteen, music room, hard courts and oval.
Construction will begin this year with the school to open to students in kindergarten and pre-primary in temporary facilities in 2019, before opening to 540 students in kindergarten to Year 6 in permanent buildings in 2020.
The new $17.3 million primary school in Caversham South will have capacity for 430 students and will relieve pressure on nearby Caversham Primary School where, without the new school, enrolments would have expected to exceed the site's capacity in the near future.
Students will learn in first-class facilities including a library resource centre, covered assembly area with canteen and a music room and hard courts.
A new $18.9 million Byford primary school - a McGowan Government election commitment - was also announced last year.
The McGowan Government is investing more than $477 million to build new schools and upgrade existing facilities across the State, ensuring students have access to modern education facilities.
