Western Australia continues its reign as the jobs capital of Australia, with record low unemployment according to the latest employment figures released this morning.

Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics put the State's unemployment rate at 2.8 per cent - the equal lowest rate that WA has ever achieved. The rate reached 2.8 per cent on a few occasions last year.  Last month's unemployment rate for WA stood at 3.3 per cent.

The record low of 2.8 per cent is significantly lower than the national average of 4.0 per cent and better than any other State for the eighth month in a row.

There are now more than 1.13 million people in either full time or part time work in WA, making WA the best State for participation levels.

Employment Protection Minister Jon Ford said the latest figures highlighted the buoyant nature of the WA economy and confirmed its status as a powerhouse.

"It is also encouraging to know that participation rates remain at record levels, the highest in Australia, making the West the easiest State in Australia in which to get a job," Mr Ford said.
