Youth Week WA, the largest annual celebration of young people in Western Australia, has officially commenced. Running from 10 to 17 April, this week-long event will feature a variety of free activities and events across the State, aimed at recognising and celebrating young people aged 10–25.

Youth Week WA provides a vital platform for young people to express their ideas, raise awareness about key issues, showcase their talents, engage with the wider community, and celebrate their social, cultural, and economic contributions to society.

This year, the City of Karratha will host the launch event Kick Off Concert and Markets, featuring performances by the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO), First Nations rapper ZERO Emcee, and local youth performers. This concert will set the stage for an exciting week of events.

This year’s theme, Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment, was chosen by the Youth Week WA Planning Committee which includes the four 2025 Youth Week WA Ambassadors – Emily Sullivan, Daisy Pilsworth, Lissa Lee and Om Sharma.

The theme is centred on young people’s connection with community, each other and themselves. The theme speaks to Youth Week WA as a celebration of contributions young people make, no matter the size, that when sewn together form the ‘rich tapestry’ of Western Australia.

Youth Week WA 2025 Ambassador Om Sharma shared his thoughts on this year’s theme: “Rather than focusing on the idea that young people are great only because of their future potential, the theme highlights that the connections we share in the present, along with our shared belonging to WA, are more than enough to make a significant impact in the ‘now’."

To support local governments, organisations and community groups in delivering meaningful events across metropolitan and regional WA, Department of Communities has provided over $90,000 in funding through the annual Youth Week WA Grants Program.

Visit the Youth Week WA website for information on events taking place throughout the State.
