
Detectives from the Sexual Assault Squad have charged a 30-year-old man as a result of their investigation into the sexual assault of a woman in Rangeway (Geraldton) on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
It will be alleged, during the early hours of the morning, a man forced entry into a home armed with a knife and sexually assaulted the female occupant.
The 30-year-old man from Rangeway has been charged with:
• Three counts of Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent;
• Three counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault;
• Two counts of Made a Threat to Unlawfully Do An Act;
• One count of Impeded Another Person's Normal Breathing or Blood Circulation by Applying Pressure to Neck; and
• One count of Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit.
He is due to appear before the Geraldton Magistrates Court today, 24 April 2025.
Detective Superintendent Hamish McKenzie of the Sex Crime Division said “Members of the community have the right to feel safe and secure in their own homes, and these types of incidents are totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
The WA Police Force committed a significant number of resources to this investigation, deploying specialist investigators from Perth, assisting local police to identify, locate and apprehend the alleged offender and put him before the courts. The investigative team were able to make the arrest within 24hrs of this dreadful crime.”
