The grants will improve access and participation in affordable, quality preschool and Kindergarten programs and deliver better outcomes for:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
  • Children living in regional, remote and very remote communities
  • Children experiencing significant disadvantage
  • Children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Children in the care of the CEO, Department of Communities (Communities)

The grants have been made available to the ECEC sector in WA for the first time through a funding boost from the Commonwealth Government, which will be delivered through the Preschool Reform Agreement (PRA).

Communities has entered a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Education to enable the distribution of funding to flow to all ECEC settings.

The Supporting Children in ECEC WA grants will be administered by Child Australia and all ECEC services in WA, approved under the Education and Care Services National law (WA), are eligible to apply. There will be more than one round of the funding opportunity and applications can be resubmitted for subsequent rounds until all funding has been allocated.

Grant applications will close on 24 November 2023.
