The final data has been received from the pilot phase of our Gender Equality in Procurement Pilot project which leverages public sector procurement processes to tackle gender inequality in WA workplaces.

During the pilot, 19 State Government agencies awarded 577 contracts with a total value of more than $2 billion through procurement processes that trialled a gender equality disclosure clause.

Launched by Department of Communities on 1 July 2022, the two-year pilot contributed to increased awareness among suppliers tendering for government contracts about their options to maintain safe, inclusive workplaces.

The success of the pilot resulted in the introduction of a permanent gender equality disclosure clause being mandated for certain procurements with all State agencies from 1 July 2024.

This disclosure clause asks suppliers with 100 or more employees to provide evidence of their compliance with reporting requirements under the Commonwealth's Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 when submitting bids in response to publicly advertised requests.
